their creative talents and shine in the spotlight.
Theatre
Bishop Connolly Theatre Company
The Bishop Connolly Theatre Company’s vision is to inspire, challenge and develop the artistic, academic and leadership abilities of every student who participates in the program. Our theatre program is a vibrant community of actors, stage crew, lighting and sound technicians, and students interested in set design, costume design and makeup. The Company stages two productions a year—one musical and one play—in its large 700-seat proscenium auditorium. All productions are open to the full student body through biannual auditions. Recent performances include Little Shop of Horrors; Twelve Angry Jurors; Godspell; The Crucible; Almost, Maine; Cinderella and The Man Who Came to Dinner.
Stagecraft
Students learn all aspects of technical theater, including specialized vocabulary, set design, lighting, sound, costumes and makeup. Students apply learned information by working on actual productions. Advanced students take on leadership roles as crew leads, including lighting design, stage design, stage construction, technical manager and stage manager for productions.
Band
The Bishop Connolly Band unites student musicians who share a love for instrumental performance. Rehearsals focus on individual skill development, technique, theory, history, and ensemble playing. In addition to performing at each Mass, the band stages both Christmas and Spring concerts. All instruments and ability levels are welcome.
Chorus
The Bishop Connolly Chorus strives to develop the whole musician and is focused on broadening the musical horizons of its members. An extracurricular activity, Chorus teaches members to perform in an ensemble, build their own singing technique, and read both sacred and secular music. Bishop Connolly’s Chorus and Band perform together at the school’s monthly Masses, as well as its Christmas and Spring concerts.
