Bishop Connolly’s Valedictorian of the Class of 2020 is CHRISTOPHER DUPUIS. Christopher is the son of Michael and Cathy Dupuis of Fall River. Christopher is a member of the National Honor Society and the Société Honoraire de Français (National French Honor Society) and was the recipient of the 2019 Harvard Book Award. Christopher will study finance as part of the Honors Program of Bryant University, where he was awarded the Bryant University Presidential Scholarship. Ranked seventh in the class is SONJA ELISABETH MORIN, daughter of Adam and Sarah Morin of Fall River, currently residing in Bogata, TX. Sonja is a member of the National Honor Society and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, for which she donated much time as a peer tutor. Over her four years at Bishop Connolly, Sonja was an active member of the BCHS Theatre Company, Campus Ministry and Student Council. Sonja is most proud of establishing the Cougars for Life Club, a pro-life club working closely with the Diocese of Fall River’s Pro-Life Apostolate. Sonja was honored with the Salt of the Earth Award for her commitment to service. This fall, Sonja will attend the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where she will major in psychology and minor in film/media studies as a member of the Honors College.
Bishop Connolly’s Class of 2020 Salutatorian is LAUREN E. NORTHRUP, daughter of Geoffrey and Fadra Northrup of Swansea. Lauren is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (National Spanish Honor Society). Lauren was the 2019 recipient of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal scholarship for excellence in the study of science and mathematics. In addition to her studies, Lauren contributed her time and talent to the BCHS Cross Country team. This fall, Lauren will study environmental science at the University of Vermont, where she was awarded the Presidential Scholarship for academic excellence. ALEXANDRIA ROSALIA DIGREGORIO is the eighth-ranked student in the class. Alexandria is the daughter of Michael and Ana DiGregorio of Fall River. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. Throughout her high school career, Alexandria was an active member of the BCHS Theatre Company and Softball team. Alexandria will begin her college studies at Bristol Community College, where she will major in educational studies. She plans to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher.
RICHARD MICHAEL MCGEE is the third-ranked student in the Class of 2020. He is the son of Richard and Aimee McGee of Little Compton, RI. Richard is a member of the National Honor Society, for which he served as president, and the Société Honoraire de Français. Richard was a four-year member of the Student Council, serving as the 2020 class historian, and he participated on the Debate Team. Richard has enrolled in the Roger Williams University Honors Program and was awarded the Roger Williams University Presidential Scholarship. He will double major in journalism and history, with minors in political science and philosophy. TESS ABIGAIL KFOURY is the ninth-ranked student of the Class of 2020. She is the daughter of Robert and Lorrie Kfoury of Fall River. Tess is a member of the National Honor Society, serving as secretary. She is also a member of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, for which she served as president. An active member of the school community, Tess served on the Student Council as the Executive Council communications and spirit building officer, was the vice president of the Interact Club, and captain of the Girls’ Tennis team. Tess was also an integral member of the school’s Student Ambassadors and recruitment team. This fall, Tess will attend the University of Alabama, where she will major in microbiology.
The fourth-ranked student is JAMISON TAYLOR DEFARIA, son of Jessie and Sandra DeFaria of Westport. Jamison is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. An avid student-athlete, Jamison has earned numerous accolades for his participation on Connolly’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Jamison was named Mayflower Athletic Conference MVP, All-Star, and Medalist, as well as Herald News All-Star for his accomplishments. Also, Jamison ranked third in the Foot Locker Northeast Cross Country Championship and was a two-time MIAA D2 All State Qualifier, two-time EMASS D6 Medalist in Cross Country, and MIAA D4 Sectional Qualifier in Track & Field. This fall, Jamison will study sports management as part of the Honors Program at Nichols College, where he was awarded the President’s Achievement Scholarship. Jamison will also compete for Nichols’ Cross Country program. Tied for ninth ranking is CARLEY MARIE MEDEIROS, daughter of John and Michele Medeiros of Fall River. Carley is a member of the National Honor Society, serving as vice president, and the Société Honoraire de Français. An active member of the Bishop Connolly community, Carley donated her time and talents to many aspects of the school. Carley was a four-year member of the Student Council, serving this year as student body president. Carley was a four-year member of the BCHS Debate and Mock Trial teams, most recently serving as captain of both. Additionally, Carley was a four-year member of the Bishop Connolly Chorus and contributed to many performances of the BCHS Theatre Company. Carley was also an integral member of the Student Ambassadors and recruitment team. This fall, Carley will attend the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where she was awarded the Chancellor’s Scholarship. Carley will double major in history and philosophy as part of the Honors College, with plans to become an attorney.
Ranked fifth in the class is ZILU WANG. Zilu is the daughter of Wei Wang and Lei Lu of Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China. Zilu is a member of the National Honor Society and has contributed her time and talent as a pianist to the Bishop Connolly Chorus. Additionally, Zilu volunteered her piano/music skills to South Coast Educational Collaborative, providing joy in music to students in their high school inclusion program. Zilu plans to study music therapy at Berklee College of Music. Ranked tenth in the Class of 2020 is ALEXA GANHADEIRO. Alexa is the daughter of Joseph and Dulce Ganhadeiro of North Dartmouth. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. Alexa plans to continue her studies at Stonehill College this fall, where she will major in psychology.
CHRISTOPHER R. MULVEY is the sixth-ranked student in the Class of 2020. He is the son of Paul and Jennifer Mulvey of Westport. Christopher is a member of the National Honor Society and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. An active member of the BCHS Soccer and Tennis teams, Christopher was recently chosen as the 2020 Unsung Hero of his graduating class for his Cougar Spirit and support of his peers. Christopher will study accounting at Stonehill College, where he was awarded the Diocesan Grant and Basil Moreau Merit Scholarship. RACHEL CABRAL is a member of the Bishop Connolly L.E.A.P. Program and will graduate as a junior. She is ranked in the top ten of both her assigned Class of 2021 and the graduating class of 2020. Rachel is the daughter of Christopher and Marianne Cabral of Assonet. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Société Honoraire de Français. During her years at BCHS, Rachel contributed her talents to the Varsity Softball and Swim teams, as well as the Recycling Club. This fall, Rachel will major in chemical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where she was awarded the Presidential Scholarship.
