| THE
BROTHER ROGER MILLETTE, F.I.C. SCHOLARSHIP - The
Brother Roger Scholarship is awarded each year to a current
student whose academic standing and exemplary character are
complementary to the standards set by Brother Roger in his
65 years of religious life. This distinguished individual has served as principal
of Msgr. Prevost High School in Fall River prior to his arrival
at Bishop Connolly High School over 40 years ago. At Bishop Connolly, he has served as associate principal
and assistant principal in addition to the many other roles
he has assumed and continues to accept at Bishop Connolly
High School. |
THE
CHRISTOPHER LEAHEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - This scholarship
is given in honor of Christopher Leahey '87. Chris was a distinguished
student athlete at Bishop Connolly High School who set new
records at BCHS in track and cross-country while maintaining
academic excellence. Chris continued his athletic success
at Providence College where he graduated in 1991. A tragic
automobile accident cut short this fine young man's life on
April 26, 1992. The scholarship is a result of the fine efforts
of Chris's mother, Rosalind and high school track coach Mr.
James Barnaby who organized road races in Chris's memory raising
thousands of dollars for this memorial scholarship. The successful
races were held for twelve years beginning on August 8, 1992,
Chris's 23rd birthday. All who knew Chris
remember what a positive influence the Bishop Connolly experience
had on him. Conversely,
BCHS was also touched by this remarkable young man for his
athletic prowess, leadership and uncompromising spirit.
This scholarship award is made to a student who has proven
him or herself to be a positive role model and leader. In this manner, Chris's memory and convictions are
kept forever alive. |
| THE
TOMMY KEYES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
- Each year the Keyes family honors Tommy P. Keyes '84 through the presentation
of a renewable scholarship to a sophomore student. Tommy Keyes is remembered for his enthusiasm and love
of life that demonstrated itself in boundless school spirit
and fidelity to his school. Whether as a member of the golf
team or the "spirit leader" for the hockey team, Tommy was
a perfect role model for students then and now. The scholarship is a result of Tommy's family and friends
coming together for the annual golf tournament in his name.
The student chosen for this scholarship
must exemplify Tommy's abundance of school spirit, athletic
interest and academic success.

| THE
JAMES AND LORRAINE NICOLETTI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
- James
Nicoletti was the former principal of Durfee High School,
Henry Lord Junior High School as well as Director of Middle
Grades for the Fall River Public Schools. Mr. Nicoletti was also Director of Cathedral Camp,
board member of the Sierra Club and founding member of the
Century Club at Bishop Connolly High School. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was awarded
the Diocesan Marian Medal and was its first recipient.
Lorraine Nicoletti is remembered as a supportive and devoted
wife and mother. Her
legacy as a loving and giving person influenced and touched
all those who were fortunate enough to know her. The
award was established by James F. Nicoletti '73 in memory
of his parents. James
Nicoletti and his wife Debra sponsor the scholarship that
recognizes the significance family plays in creating successful
individuals while acknowledging the importance of a sound
high school formation. |
| THE
JOHN AND EILEEN CARR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
-Both
Mr. and Mrs. Carr, noted educators, represent the principled
determination of good teachers to provide meaning instruction
and lessons in citizenship and service to the youth they serve.
The scholarship rewards a student who is recognized as demonstrating
solid citizenship, consistent academic success and Christian
service. |
| MSGR.
DANIEL F. SHALLOO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
- An
esteemed priest of the Fall River Diocese and pastor of Holy
Name Church prior to his passing in 1991, Msgr. Shalloo is
noted for his steadfast commitment to Catholic education. This scholarship award is presented to an incoming freshman at Bishop Connolly High School who demonstrates a
similar commitment to his/her Catholic education by maintaining
respectable grades, exemplifying Christian principles and
living a life of service. The recipient shall either be an
active member of the BCHS Ambassador Program or commit to
becoming one for the ensuing school year. |
| THE
OMER AND LAURETTE BOIVIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
- Dr.
Boivin and wife Laurette established this scholarship to encourage
increased interest and support for Bishop Connolly High School.
Scholarships are awarded to students from the sophomore, junior
and senior classes. Awards are made to those returning
students who have demonstrated active participation in Bishop
Connolly High School activities or clubs while maintaining
a solid academic average for the preceding school year. Awardees must either be an active member of the BCHS Ambassador
Program or commit to becoming one for the ensuing school year. |
| THE
LOWNEY SCHOLARSHIP
- The Lowney Scholarship is presented in the name
of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Lowney by Dr. Paul and Mrs. Terry
Raymond in memory of Mrs. Raymond's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Lowney, parents of eleven children, were
committed in life to the goals of Catholic education by seeing
that each of their children received a quality Catholic education. The scholarship is awarded to a freshman and renewed
for each of the four years the student is in attendance at
Bishop Connolly High School. |
| BROTHERS
OF CHRISTIAN INSTRUCTION SCHOLARSHIP
- The Brothers
of Christian Instruction (F.I.C.) have ministered to Bishop
Connolly students since 1968. They continue to teach in recognition of Christ's presence
in our lives and to be a silent force in the formation of
character, spirit, and intellect. These scholarships stand
in tribute to their mission. The scholarships are gifts from
the Community of Brothers of Christian Instruction, Province
of New England. These awards seek to acknowledge those students whose
scholarship, industry, commitment to service and solid citizenship
are recognizable in the Bishop Connolly community. |
| THE BROTHER MICHAEL BARNABY, F.I.C. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
- This
scholarship is given by Bishop Connolly High School in memory
of Brother Michael a dedicated teacher at Bishop Connolly
High School for 17 years prior to his passing during the 1991
school year at the age of 57. Brother Michael is remembered for his passionate involvement
in student life as a teacher, mentor, and coach. His many years working as a missionary in Africa speak
to his commitment to spreading the message of Christ.
Each year a scholarship is awarded to a student who shows
demonstrated academic success and is either a member of the
Bishop Connolly Ambassador Program or the liturgical ministry. |
R. AIME LAFRANCE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - This
award, in memory of R. Aime Lafrance recognizes a deserving
student whose hard work, academic skill and desire for success
mirrors that of Mr. Lafrance. He, along with his wife Rita,
was the founder of White's Restaurant in Westport, Massachusetts,
and the future inspiration for the Lafrance family's continued
success in the hospitality field

REV. MSGR. PREVOST ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP - This scholarship is awarded to a student of the
highest academic excellence and commitment to the faith. It is given in the name of Msgr. Prevost High School
Alumni Association in tribute to the excellent education afforded
to the hundreds of students by dedicated faculty and staff
under the direction of the Brothers of Christian Instruction
at Msgr. Prevost High School in Fall River, Massachusetts
from 1927 until 1968 when a tragic fire forced its closing |
THE SOCIETY OF JESUS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD - This
award recognizes the scholastic influence of the Jesuit community
on academic success at Bishop Connolly High School. The Society of Jesus was chosen in 1967 by Bishop James
L. Connolly to operate our Diocesan school. Their steadfast commitment as guardians of academic
rigor in the students' development is recognized in this award.
The scholarship is given to the student who has attained the
highest score on the Bishop Connolly Admissions Entrance exam. |
THE MICHAEL F. SOUZA SCHOLARSHIP - This
scholarship remembers Bishop Connolly student Michael Souza.
His was a promising life cut short by an automobile accident.
Michael was an active, contributing member of the Bishop Connolly
school community. This scholarship acknowledges
a student who is a solid, contributing member of the Bishop
Connolly student body and demonstrates an interest in helping
others. |
| TIMOTHY J. COTTER SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
- Mr.
Cotter, a lifelong proponent of Catholic education, continues
his commitment to the values, morals, and educational excellence
exemplified at Bishop Connolly High School. The scholarships
that bear his name are awarded to students whose initiative,
hard work, and academic success have demonstrated that they
are worthy of consideration. |
THE MEDORA DUPUIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD - Awarded annually, the Dupuis Scholarship recognizes
the many community contributions of Mrs. Dupuis. An accomplished artist and musician herself, the award recognizes
talented Bishop Connolly students in the area of the arts. |

JOHN LAMBERT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - John Lambert was a devoted family man and a supporter of Catholic Education; he left behind a large, loving family when he died suddenly at the age of forty-six. To commemorate his life, friends and family have established the John Lambert Memorial Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships to deserving students at Bishop Connolly High School who have experienced the loss of a parent. |

FALL RIVER CATHOLIC SCHOOLS SCHOLARSHIP - One student from each of the Catholic Elementary Schools in Fall River is awarded a partial scholarship to attend Bishop Connolly High School. Scholarships will be awarded to those students who demonstrate financial need and represent the values of Catholic Education. |
