Technology | philosophy

Here at Bishop Connolly High School, we understand that technology has become an integral component of everyday life. Technology affects our lives from the moment we arise to the ringtone of a cellular phone alarm, to the moment we send a final E-mail before heading off to bed. Technology is a broad term, however, used to describe any number of analog or digital devices. At Bishop Connolly, we focus on those areas of technology that are important to the development and improvement of our students as members of a student body, a community, and future members of a workforce. We view technology as a tool with which to develop, improve, and refine those skills, abilities, and proficiencies necessary for a successful career and life.

We strive to assist our students in the development of these skills and abilities in various ways. First and foremost, we do so by offering physical access to computer hardware and software, as well as access to the Internet. Through the use of current hardware, and industry standard software, we offer students the ability to work with and in an environment similar to that of an actual work environment. Additionally, we also focus on teaching and developing technology use and presentation skills which are necessary in academia and in the work force. Finally, through a number of programs and initiatives, such as the Freshman Technology Competency Program, and the push to integrate laptops, Bishop Connolly is making strides to become a leader in technology integration in the classroom.
